Update your name and profile answers

Keep your account name current and find the sponsor or sponsee profiles connected to you.

For everyone

These steps use the Beacon website unless the iPhone app is mentioned.

In this guide

Change the name coordinators see

On the website, open Settings → Account and security. Under Your name, choose Edit your name.

  1. If Beacon asks you to unlock your account name, enter your current account password and choose Unlock your account name.
  2. Update your first name and, if you want to include it, your last name.
  3. Choose Save name and wait for the saved confirmation.

This name helps authorized coordinators in your churches recognize you. Your last name is optional. Changing your account name does not change the email address you use to sign in.

Find a sponsor or sponsee profile

In Me, look for My profiles and choose Manage profiles. This opens the profiles connected to your account, access requests and their history, and archived profiles.

A submitted intake form may still need to be linked to your account. If you see Continue linking, finish that step. You can also use Claim your account with the phone number you used during intake. Some claims need your organization’s review before the profile appears.

Edit the answers on a linked profile

In Account and security, find Profile questionnaires and choose Edit answers for the profile you want to update. If you have both a sponsor and a sponsee profile, check which one you opened.

Some answers are encrypted. When prompted, use your account password to unlock them for this browser session. Make your changes, then choose Save changes in the questionnaire you edited.

Pay attention to any review status next to an answer. Saving an update and having it approved are separate steps when review is required.

If a profile is missing or answers stay locked

Check Requests and history in My profiles for a pending access request before submitting another intake form. If nothing is claimable, ask your ministry’s team to check the original submission.

If you can sign in but still cannot open encrypted answers, tell the team that the profile is linked but its answers are locked. That distinction helps them investigate access. Leave the private answers themselves out of your support message.
