Find your groups and read announcements

Open your team or community to see its activities, members, updates, and serving opportunities.

For everyone

These steps use the Beacon website unless the iPhone app is mentioned.

In this guide

Find the right group

Select your organization, then open Groups. Your list depends on your membership and role. Members see their groups; people with management access may see a wider list.

Use the search box to find a group by its name, description, or ministry area. If a group seems to have disappeared, clear the search and check the organization selected in the workspace menu.

Public groups lets you explore groups available to your organization. Opening a public group does not add you as a member. Ask the group’s leader if you would like to join. An authorized leader can add an existing organization member or send an invitation.

What you can find inside

Open a group to see the sections available to you:

  • Activities shows upcoming group activities.
  • Members shows roster information your role is allowed to see.
  • Announcements contains group updates when the feature is enabled.
  • Opportunities shows available ways to serve, with details about the role and time.

Seeing an activity or opportunity does not automatically put you on its schedule. Open the item and check the details and any response required.

Read the whole announcement

Choose Announcements, then open a post from the published list. A post may include activity links, so check those for the event details as well as reading the update itself.

Some announcements have a public page. When a post offers Copy public link, use that link if you need to share its public version. A link to an internal group page still requires the recipient to have the right access.

Creating and managing posts requires permission. If you are simply looking for an update, you do not need access to drafts or publishing controls.

If something is missing

Private or confidential groups and their details are not visible to everyone. A group with no announcements may not have published anything yet, or announcements may be disabled.

For membership or permission questions, start with your group leader. If the page reports a loading error, use Try again or Retry group. If it keeps failing, contact the Beacon team with the group name and the error message.
